11 inmates confirmed COVID-19 positive in Jhapa

According to Health Office Pandemics programme coordinator Jeevan Chaulagain, once a jailbird was tested COVID-19 positive on his PCR test, 10 others were tested resulting in positive case.

Two die of suffocation inside a well  

Two persons have died of suffocation inside a well at Shah Party Palace at Manahari Rural municipality-7 in Makawanpur district today. They had gone into the well to repair a water pump.

Rainfall damages houses, paddy and vegetables

Mass cremation was performed for bodies of nine persons who lost their lives in the landslides recently occurred in Waling municiplaity. The deceased were cremated en masse on the bank of Kaligandaki River in Ramnadi (Ramdi) on Thursday evening.

Number of COVID-19 infected crosses 3,000 in Karnali   

The caseload of coronavirus infected persons has reached more than three thousand in Karnali. According to the Ministry of Social Development, the number of infected has so far reached 3,276 in the Karnali state.

The water level in the Narayani river has crossed the danger mark following the incessant rain since the last three days. It is estimated that the river level will rise further as the rain continues in areas of the origin of the river.

     Landslide buries one to death in Birgha  

Landslide has buried a youth to death in Kaligandaki of Syangja last night. Krishna Nepali, 18, of Kaligandaki rural municipality-4, Gautam Tole in Syangja died after being buried by a landslide that occurred above his house following the torrential rain for over three days.

Meteorologist Shanti Kandel said the low pressure system is in the northern area of Chhatisgadh, India and it is in the process of moving north westward from there, hence the possibility of rainfall till Saturday.

China urges Nepal to verify issue on building construction in the border area

Responding to a query on some Indian media report that China has constructed building on the Nepali side of the Nepal-China border, spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Wang Xiaolong said on Tuesday that the buildings were made in the Chinese side of the border.

     Landslide buries two vehicles 

Landslide has buried two vehicles at Gajuri along Prithvi highway today.     Two containers—one Na 6 Kha 6408 heading towards Dhangadhi from Kathmandu and another HR 33-9901 en route to Kathmandu from Muglin were buried by landslide, said Chief of the District Police Office, Rabindra Regmi.    

  507 inmates contract COVID-19 at Siraha Prison 

The prison which has the capacity to accommodate 125 persons is currently sheltering 599 persons. Of the 599 inmates, 507 have tested positive for coronavirus, the Prison administration stated.

     Local level ward chair dies due to electrocution

Chairman of Madhya Dudhkoshi rural municipality, ward no 5, Nimraj Tamang, has died due to electrocution at his house this morning. The 39-year-old Tamang who was injured in the incident died in course of treatment at the District Hospital Phaplu, the District Police Office Solukhumbu said.    

Traffic resumes on highway   

Traffic has resumed on the Mid-hill Pushpalal highway. Vehicular movement on the highway was obstructed since Monday evening due to a landslide occurred at Rakse of Badigad rural municipality.
