Children of 5 to 11 age group will be vaccinated soon: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has announced to commence the COVID-19 vaccination campaign to the children between 5 to 11 age group soon.

PM instructs to be ready for three-tier elections

The Prime Minister mentioned that there is a need to hold three-tier elections within a year. "We have a responsibility to conduct the three-tier elections. I urge all concerned to initiate all the necessary work for the elections," he said.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is addressing the nation today. According to the PM's private secretariat, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address the nation on Friday at 3 p.m. The address will be broadcast live on Nepal Television.

All museums in Kathmandu Valley to be closed due to COVID-19 risk from Saturday   

The meeting of chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur on Thursday decided to shut down all the museums in the Kathmandu Valley from Saturday in view of growing risk of COVID-19.

Prime Minister Deuba’s personal secretariat member Govinda Pariyar informed on Thursday that Prime Minister Deuba is scheduled to address the nation on Friday. “In case, he does not address on Friday, then he will address on Saturday,” Pariyar said.

Drizzle makes Kathmandu colder

People in the Kathmandu felt colder on Thursday. Many of the denizens were seen making fires near their houses and shops to keep themselves warm all day. It remained cloudy throughout the day and some areas of the capital received light rains in the afternoon. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), many parts of the country witnessed light to moderate rainfall, while hilly and mountainous districts received light to moderate snowfall from Thursday morning.

Odd-even number traffic rule to be imposed in Kathmandu from Friday night

Vehicles with odd registration number will allowed to ply on the odd date as per the Nepali calendar and vice versa. The odd-even traffic rule will be applied to both the private and public vehicles.

TU, Public Service Commission halt all exams

A meeting of the PSC made a decision to this effect on Thursday. The meeting also decided to notify a week before if situation emerges to postpone exams scheduled from February 13, according to Ek Narayan Sharma, the undersecretary at the PSC.

The meeting of the five-party alliance coordination committee has been postponed. A meeting of the committee scheduled to be held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar at 4 pm on Thursday has been postponed, said Ramesh Malla, chief personal secretary to CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.

PM Deuba asks to monitor whether or not health safety protocols adopted in examinations 

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the bodies concerned to carry out monitoring whether or not social distancing has been maintained in ongoing examinations conducted by Tribhuvan University as well as there is a sufficient amount of sanitiser in examination halls.

Minister for Health and Population (MoHP) Birodh Khatiwada has said that the nation would not face shortage of vaccines against COVID-19. Minister Khatiwada, who reached Hetauda after visiting Terai districts by leading an execution team of the vaccination campaign, said on Wednesday that the anti-coronavirus vaccines were in stock with the government and procedures were underway to bring in additional vaccines.
