Plastic utensils pushing woodworkers out of business

The ancestral occupation of the Chadara community of making wooden utensils is in crisis thanks to the circulation of plastic and aluminium containers. Hari Bahadur Chadar of Thumki, Tapli Rural Municipality–4, said that the easy availability of plastic and metal pots and pans had pushed traditional wooden utensils out of the market. “This is threatening our livelihoods and pushing our occupation to the brink of extinction,” he added.

43.6% people fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Nepal has fully vaccinated 43.6 per cent of its total population against COVID-19 in one year. The vaccination campaign was started on January 27, last year. The government is intensifying vaccination campaign in full swing as it aims to fully vaccinate 100 per cent of those above 18 years by mid-April.

According to the results, 18 candidates of the ruling coalition have got elected whereas the main opposition CPN (UML) has won only one seat.
