RERL project covers 400 thousand for clean energy in five years

Over 400 thousand people of around 90 thousand households have their access to advanced and clean energy through the Renewable Energy for Rural Livelihood (RERL) project in a period of five years.    

Youth killed in accident 

Police identified the victim as 21-year-old Keshar Bahadur Singh of Simkhet, Mahabai rural municipality-3 in Kalikot district. Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Surkhet, Dilli Raj Panta, said the tipper (Bhe 1 Kha 2242) had knocked down the motorcycle (Bhe 1 Pa 2178) Singh had been riding.

Earthquake rattles Bajura 

An earthquake was felt in Bajura today morning. The Seismological Centre Kathmandu stated that the tremor that occurred at 7.59am measured 4.2 in the Richter scale.     Seismologist Mukunda Bhattarai said the epicenter of the earthquake was located at Dobato to the north of Rugin and to the south of Bichhya of Himali rural municipality.

Attorney General concerned over increasing crime and its nature  

Attorney General Agni Prasad Kharel has expressed worry saying the crime and its nature was growing in society.     Laying the foundation stone of the District Government Attorney Office here today, he said a weak investigation resulted in feeble prosecution and this leads to the criminal getting off the hook.  

Education should be employment generating, Pokharel reiterates  

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel has said that education should be linked up with employment.    

Three killed in road mishap 

Three persons died and two others were seriously injured in a road accident at Rohini rural municipality of Rupandehi district this morning.     The deceased have been identified as Lalu Kurmi, 35, and Mobikan Kurmi, 30, of Palhinanda rural municipality-4 of Nawalparasi district and Purna Bahadur Bhujel, 36, of Chatara of Sunsari district, according to the State Traffic Police Office.    

Relief amount provided to victim family 

Relief amount has been provided to the family of 10-year-old boy Ishak Sunar, who lost life in leopard attack at Lohipakha of Bandipur rural municipality in the district yesterday.          Division Forest Office, Tanahu, provided Rs 50,000 as the expense for death rituals to the victim family today.

Chief Minister of State-2 Lal Babu Raut said State government was committed to the professional rights of technical employees. CM Raut said it while inaugurating the first anniversary of Nepal Engineers' Association State-2 Chapter here Monday.         

  Hooch seized, destroyed   

Police have seized huge amount of hooch from various hotels. A team led by In-charge of Area Police Office of Banepa, Yogendra Timalsina, seized some 2,500 litres of homemade liquor on Monday evening.
