NCP central committee meeting kicks off 

The second central committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has commenced at the Rashtriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) today.     Prime Minister and party chair KP Sharma Oli and another chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' have been presiding over the meeting that is taking place after one and half years since the unification of the then CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist) to form the NCP.     

Luxembourg Foreign Minister arriving today  

Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn is arriving here on a two-day visit of Nepal.     During the visit, Minister Asselborn is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli tomorrow. He will hold bilateral talks with Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali at the Ministry in Singhdurbar today itself. Following the talks, Minister Gyawali will host a luncheon in honour of the visiting delegation.    

Peace lamp from Lumbini to Pokhara  

A peace torch will be carried from Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha to Pokhara International Mountain Museum, which is hosting the third world peace pooja or worshipping. The peace pooja is taking place from February 3 to 5.         

Three pick pockets arrested 

A team from the Metropolitan Police Range in Thimi has arrested three pick pockets. They were arrested along with 11,000 rupees that they had pick pocketed from different persons.    

Revenue official arrested with bribe money

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested a civil servant with bribe money taken from a service recipient. Computer officer at the Inland Revenue Office, Chitwan Ram Kumar Adhikari was arrested by the CIAA province no. 3 office on Tuesday.    

State-1 to be tobacco products free state within April 11

A campaign has been launched to completely control tobacco-related products in the State-1. The Ministry of Social Development of state-1 has launched the campaign.    

Opposition should be brought into confidence to run parliament: President Deuba

Congratulating newly elected Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota in today's meeting of the House of Representatives, the president of the main opposition party said, "Speaker is neutral post. I want to urge the Speaker to pay attention to the fact that parliament is of opposition party. Criticizing about the laws brought by ruling parties in the parliament is our duty."  

Three bills presented in NA

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanubhakta Dhakal presented the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Act (Third Amendment) Bill-2076 BS and Corruption Prevention Act (First Amendment) Bill-2076 BS while Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokhrel tabled the Yogamaya Ayurved University Bill-2076 BS in the meeting.    

Lawmaker Komal Oli defends singer Raut in NA

In the special hour of the National Assembly (NA) meeting today, lawmaker Oli said that the order of the District Administration Office to keep Raut in custody for four days without investigation was erroneous.
