Swollen Sukurdung rivulet sweeps settlement, at least 12 locals go missing 

The flood-fed Sukurdung rivulet that flows through Dhorpatan municipality of Baglung district has swept away at least 10 houses here. The incessant rain triggered flood blew away houses of Bobang, Surkudung and Sherawang villages at 12.00 last night.

Five die in separate incidents across country

A man died when a Bolero jeep (Ba 19 Cha 7677) and a truck (Ga 2 Kha 4319) collided head on at Gaighat of Bharatpur Metropolitan City along Narayangadh-Muglin road, said the police. The deceased has been identified as the driver of Bolero.

DCSCP collects Rs 4 million in fines

The Department carried out a bazaar monitoring from August 17 to 31 and took action against 68 firms and companies. Of the total 273 firms and companies monitored, 14 were operating by meeting all set standards and 156 had some general faults, said the Department's information officer Rabindra Acharya.

     Minitruck plunges into river, search continues for missing vehicle   

A search has been started for a minitruck that plunged into the Marsyangdi river from the Prithvi highway at Aina Pahara of Aanbukhaireni rural municipality in Tanahu district this morning. A search and rescue team of the Armed Police Force is searching for the minitruck that disappeared after falling into the river.    

Landslide claims one in Palpa   

A woman died when landslide buried her at Tinau rural municipality-3 in Palpa district on Tuesday night.     The deceased has been identified as Samikshya Somai, 29 of Mathagadhi rural municipality-7, according to Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Palpa, Madan Giri. She died while undergoing treatment at Butwal-based Lumbini City Hospital.     

COVID-infected woman dies in Bhairahawa  

A coronavirus-infected woman died while undergoing treatment in Bhairahawa. According to Bhim hospital’s information officer Dr Narayan Pokharel, a 65-year-old woman of Ramgram-5, Nawalparasi breathed her last on Tuesday night.    

Jumla sees 39 fresh COVID-19 cases including jailbirds  

Jumla district has witnessed a spike in the transmission of coronavirus infection lately. As many as 39 fresh cases of infection were diagnosed while conducting PCR tests in the Karnali Institute of Health Science.
