The earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale occurred at Bansar of Dordee rural municipality in the district at 10:13 am, according to the National earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre. 

Farmers in the upper Bhojpur happy with snowfall

Daily life of the people has been affected due to heavy snowfall in the upper region of Bhojpur. Snow as high as one to two feet has fallen in places like Suntale, Baghkhor, Dhapkharka, Mayungdanda, Temke Danda and Chakheva Bhajyang, according to the locals.

Helicopter to rescue father and son trapped in the snow

A helicopter is being sent to rescue the father and son, who have been trapped in the snow for four days, in Papung in Mikwakhola rural municipality-5 of Taplejung.  

New drinking water project in Rukum   

A drinking water project is to be constructed in Sisne rural municipality-5 of Rukum (East). The foundation stone for the drinking water project has been laid on Friday. Ward Chair of Ward No. 5 Shante Bahadur BK laid the foundation stone of Thaknakhola Drinking Water Project.     

Rs. 1.5 million allocated for former bonded labourers' education   

The Lumbini provincial government has allocated Rs. 1.5 million for the scholarship of the freed Kamlari in Lamahi, Dang. The allocation is being made in order to address the problems in the education of the former bonded labourers.    

‘Glacier area and volume decreasing’ 

A report on a study on climate change has made public the fact that the area and volume of glaciers in the Himalayan region is declining. The study report conducted by Transparency International (TI) Nepal in collaboration with ICIMOD and other organizations was made public in the capital on Friday.    

Parliamentary subcommittee formed for making suggestions on foreign policy

The subcommittee is expected to identify issues missing in the existing foreign policy and set its priorities. It will organise a workshop with the participation of experts from different quarters to seek suggestions for eliminating the situation of alteration in foreign policy with the government change.
