Bhajani, Feb. 25: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale said that the Tikapur Airport in Kailali district would be brought into operation soon.
During the on-site visit of the Airport here today, Minister Ale shred that a total of Rs 20 million has been allocated for the Airport in the current fiscal year.
Reaffirming his commitment to bring the Airport into operation very soon, the Minister said that the report to be prepared by the Study Committee will determine whether the Airport will be operative at the old space or new one.
According to him, the construction work would commence this fiscal year. This project could be developed as a multi-year project and is inevitable for Tikapur area.
"Tikapur area is known for its tourism. It has a high potential for tourism. We are committed to ensuring air connectivity to unleash that potentiality," said the Tourism Minister, sharing that Rs 1 billion was allocated for upgrading the Dhangadi Airport as Regional Airport.
He said he was effortful to make sure each district has one air-ground. The Minister informed that coordination is underway with the World Bank to build a fast track from Dhangadi Airport to New Delhi in India leading up to Lake Manasarovar in Tibetan Autonomous Area in China and a proposal seeking a budget worth Rs 65 billion was demanded the same.
