An executive meeting of the municipality has decided to close down community and institutional schools for 10 days from December 10-20. Earlier, the schools which were closed for long spell of time had come into operation since December 6.
The municipality took the decision to shut the schools after eight people tested positive for coronavirus in wards 5 and 6 and one among them died due to the infection. The schools have been closed due to fear of possible transmission of the virus among the students, teachers and staffs, the municipality sources said.
“We decided to shut the schools for a definite period after coronavirus transmission took place at community level”, said municipality’s education section chief Tikendra Prasad Bhatta.
He warned that the school head master and management committee would take entire responsibility for the risks if the schools opted for operating classed through direct mode by ignoring the decision of the municipality.
