Kathmandu, Dec 11 (RSS):
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has congratulated the Nepali athletes who won medals including gold in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG).
Through the micro blogging site Twitter this afternoon, she has expressed gratitude to the players and officials of all the countries participating in the SAG. Similarly, the Head-of-the State has thanked all the concerned people and bodies including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council, Nepal Olympic Committee, instructors, referees and judges for making the 13th SAG successful.
The President also stated that the South Asia's mega sports event has further deepened the relations among the South Asian nations and peoples.
The 13th SAG was held in Nepal and concluded on Tuesday. The president had inaugurated it on December 1. Nepal won total 206 medals including 51gold, 60 silver and 95 bronze medals in the 13th SAG, and was in the second position in the medals table. India took the first position winning total 312 medals including 174 gold, 93 silver and 45 bronze medals.
