Kathmandu, Mar. 8: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the government has kept the climate change impacts reduction policy in its priority.
Addressing a special programme here today on the occasion of the International Women's Day, Prime Minister Deuba shared the programmes unveiled by the government to reduce the climate change impacts.
"Our glaciers are melting due to global warming. Agriculture and human life has witnessed a serious impact due to disasters including unseasonal rains. We have strongly raised all these issues in the recently held COP 26 (26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties). Efforts of all are needed to address this issue," the PM added.
The PM was of the view that the government has prioritised the climate change impacts reduction and resilience programmes in all ministries' policies.
Today's programme was organised by an organisation called 'Sathsathai' in association with the Ministry of Forest and Environment and different international development partners.
Likewise, a 10-point declaration paper was issued at Kalapaththhar drawing attention of the stakeholders regarding the impact of climate change. The declaration paper was issued by organising the event at Kalapaththhar area after a 13-day-long trek of 40 distinguished women personalities with the slogan 'Women United for Climate Justice' to draw attention to the effects of climate change.
It is said the programme was organized with the objective of informing about the increasing melting of snow in the mountains due to the rise in global temperature, drying up of water sources and its direct impact on women.
