Kathmandu, March 18: With a global pandemic of coronavirous, mask and sanitizer are in short supply in the country.
Suppliers have been alleged of promoting an artificial shortage to sell the materials on black-market, making the situation worse.
In this connection, a security squad from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division today arrested Yuba Raj Neupane from Gorkha in possession of 100 thousand units of facemasks. As the police said, he is accused of hoarding such a huge quantity of mask to sell it at a high price.
He was taken under control from Sano Bharyang of the central capital.
Division Chief Senior Superintendent of Police Sahakul Bahadur Thapa said the police had intensified action against the artificial shortage and hoarding of essential goods.
Mask and sanitiser are essential to prevent and control the spread of virus which is transited by human to human.
The same team had confiscated 1,600 bottles of sanitiser from the Suraj Arcade and 14,000 pieces of masks from several places in the Kathmandu Valley.
