Kathmandu, Dec. 16: Newly elected General Secretary of the ruling Nepali Congress Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that he would fulfill his responsibility to strengthen the party in line with its rules and norms.
"I would like to extend my thanks to the general convention representatives who have elected me to the post of party general secretary. I will accept their faith and fulfill my responsibility skillfully," he said while talking to media-persons at the party central office in Sanepa on Thursday after emerging victorious in the NC's 14th General Convention.
Thapa said that he would join hands with other elected party office-bearers to provide strength to the party president to work and help manage the party.
Similarly, another newly elected NC General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma said that this general convention has exhibited people's aspiration for a transformation by electing two youths to executive posts.
Pledging to abide by people's aspiration for the two elected youths to come together for work, he said that now the time has come for competition in work following the conclusion of competition in elections. This win means a triumph of people's aspiration for a changed and stronger NC, he said.
"Ahead, I will pursue a goal of making the NC getting transformed and victorious in the next elections," he said.
