Kathmandu, Oct. 16: The government has issued permit for the import, sales and distribution of Remdesivir, an anti-viral drug used in treatment of COVID-19, in Nepal.
The Department of Drug Administration has issued permit to three companies-two Nepalis and one Indian- for the same, informed Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, Deputy Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population.
Yeti Pharmacem Distributors Pvt Ltd, Lalitpur and Synergy Overseas Pvt Ltd, Kathmandu are the Nepali companies and Hetero Labs Limited is the Indian one.
In the context of no any antidote against COVID-19 developed as of now, the Remdesivir is used in Nepal for the research purpose.
