Kathmandu, Jan. 7: The demolition of structures built by the disputed Batas Group to run a restaurant inside the Narayanhiti Durbar Museum has started. Most of the structures were dismantled on Friday, said Bhesh Narayan Dahal, Executive Director of the Narayanhiti Durbar Museum Development Committee.
Construction of structures inside the museum drew protest from all quarters, thus causing the concerned authority to take an action in this regard.
Similarly, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has formed a probe committee relating to the issue. The line minister Prem Bahadur Ale directed the formation of a committee under the leadership of the Ministry's Joint Secretary Hom Prasad Luitel to this regard.
The committee mobilised 12 workers to demolish the structures, said the committee member Tek Narayan Paudel. The Group had reached an agreement to run a restaurant on 10 ropanis land belonging to the museum.
