Kathmandu, Dec 9 (RSS):
All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) and Nepal Students Union (NSU) have expressed their serious concern over the use of force against school children on Sunday at Kohalpur, demanding action against the guilty.
In a press statement today, the ANNFSU concluded that it was natural for students to get enraged following the accident occurred due to reckless driving near the school premises leaving their colleague severely injured.
The student union close to the major ruling party, Nepal Communist Party, has accused the security personnel of fuelling the atmosphere instead of calming it down and taking conscientious efforts to normalise the situation. It also demanded action against the guilty in the incident and treatment of the injured.
Likewise, NSU's Kathmandu chapter today organized a protest demonstration in front of the Chabahil-based Pashupati Campus against the use of police force against school children in Kohalpur, Banke.
The rally that originated from the campus premises passed through the Chabahil Chowk before converting into a gathering after returning to the campus.
Addressing the gathering, NSU Kathmandu president Manoj Baidya demanded arrangements of free treatment for those students injured in the incident. "Police indulged in physical assault on children in school uniform deserve to be prosecuted," he asserted.
Students at the local Tribhuvan Secondary School took to the street after Prakriti Chand, the seventh grader at the same school, was hit by a truck on Sunday morning as she was on the way to her school. Seriously injured Chand is being treated at the Lalitpur-based B&B Hospital.
