A long-distance couple separated by pandemic travel rules for 20 months have been reunited at Heathrow Airport ahead of their wedding. Australian Chris Quealy, 72, was given dispensation to leave Australia, after he proposed to Penny Steven, 69, from Buckinghamshire, over Zoom this year.

Public transport fare increases in Kathmandu Valley, to come to effect from Oct 18

The Bagmati Provincial government has increased public transport fare in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the public transport fare adjustment set by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures Development of the province, travel by public bus up to 5 km distance is charged Rs 18 each. The decision however comes into effect from October 18.

A person died after drowning in the Babai river on Monday. Another person has gone missing. Hukum BK from Baglung died due to drowning while Lekhnath Poudel of Barbardiya has gone missing in the river, the District Police Office said.

Nepal-India combined military training concludes

An infantry battalion each from the Indian Army and the Nepal Army participated in the 14-day exercise ‘Surya Kiran XV’, which commenced on September 20, the Public Relations and Information Directorate of Nepal Army said. It is said that 300 Nepal Army personnel and 400 Indian Army personnel took part in the combined military training.
