Over 4.9 million people get first dose of COVID vaccine

More than 4.9 people in Nepal have received their first dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and more than 3.8 million have received their full dose as of Sunday. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 4,942,250 people have received their first shot against COVID-19 and 3,846,736 of them are fully vaccinated. The government is administering vaccines including AstraZeneca, Covishield, Johnson & Johnson and Vero Cell across the country.

Revenue collection up, but budget spending meagre

The government has collected about Rs. 100.5 billion revenue in the first five weeks of the current Fiscal Year 2021/22. The collection is 8.74 per cent of the total annual target of Rs. 1151.6 billion as estimated in the budget of current fiscal, according to the Daily Budgetary Report of the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO). Nepalgunj-Pokhara daily flight starts after incre ased tourist flow

Buddha Air has started daily flights in Nepalgunj-Pokhara sector from Sunday. 13% citizens fully vaccinated

As Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba prioritised to inoculate citizens against COVID-19 free of cost, 4.8 million people across the country have been vaccinated in the past five weeks.  Earlier, PM Deuba had announced that the government’s first priority was to vaccinate all citizens.

Total 504 Nepalis come home from Afghanistan

Nepali migrants in Afghanistan continue to return home following the takeover of the country by the Taliban rebels. Thirty-five Nepali nationals returned to Kathmandu on Saturday – 26 came back via Turkish Air and 9 via Jazeera Airways, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). PM Deuba performs puja at Kumbheshwar

Country sees above normal monsoon rainfall

Most of the rainfall gauging stations across the country have already received above normal rains although the monsoon has only reached its halfway. Monsoon entered Nepal this year on June 11, two days earlier than the normal onset date, and is expected to remain for at least 112 days before retreating, according to senior meteorologist Mean Kumar Aryal. The onset and withdrawal date of monsoon in Nepal is set for June 13 and October 2 respectively.
