Kathmandu, Aug 22: As Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba prioritised to inoculate citizens against COVID-19 free of cost, 4.8 million people across the country have been vaccinated in the past five weeks. 
Earlier, PM Deuba had announced that the government’s first priority was to vaccinate all citizens.

Prior to his appointment to the post, 3.6 million people had received the vaccines. So far, 8.5 million people have been administered with COVID-19 vaccines.
Of them, 3.7 million have already received their second dose of the vaccine as well. With this, 13 per cent of the population has already been administered both doses of the vaccine, while 16.8 per cent have received their first dose. 

Earlier, the government had announced to vaccinate 33 per cent of the population against COVID-19 by mid-September. The government has planned to administer free vaccines to all eligible citizens by Mid-April, next year.
Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health and Population, 63,963 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. As of Saturday, 4,935,056 people have received their first dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and 3,835,608 people have received their full dose.
