70 percent industries found flouting government decision to provide regular payment to workers

During a primary survey on the status of distribution of remuneration and operation of industries during lockdown by the Whole Trade Union Nepal (WHIN), only 30 percent industries were found giving the full payment of March-April to their workers. The survey covers 219 industries associated with General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GFONT), in the five States with industrial density.

Rainfall likely for next three days   

Westerly winds active in Nepal since the past few days and the impact of local winds could lead to rainfall throughout the country. The westerly and local winds coupled with water vapour travelling from Bay of Bengal and Arab sea is leading to the continuous rainfall, says meteorologist Bibhuti Pokharel.    

COVID-19: WHO removes Nepal from high risk zone, puts into risk zone  

Nepal is no more in the high risk zone, but in risk zone in view of COVID-19 infection.      The World Health Organisation (WHO) removed Nepal from the list of high risk zone to put it in the risk zone few days ago. The WHO latest assessment was based on efforts Nepal has taken in the prevention and containment of the deadly virus.

Coronavirus infection has been found in 29 persons in State-1 so far, the Information Desk under the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers here said.

Twenty eight people infected with COVID-19 in State-1   

The number of people with coronavirus infection has reached to 28 in State-1.     Among those testing positive for COVID-19 are 16 Nepalis and 12 Indian nationals, the Information Desk set up at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers here stated.   

3628 people undergo test for coronavirus in State-1

hirteen people, 11 Indian nationals and 2 Nepali, who tested positive, are hospitalized at COVID-19 Hospital set up by state government on April 3. Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai said all expenses of the pandemic patients were born by the state government.

"The government is fully aware and informed of the Nepalis stranded abroad. we will start the process of returning them to Nepal once the situation became favourable," Foreign Affairs Minister Gyawali said.

180 screened through RDT, one found positive in sealed area of Saptari

The RDT was carried out at three settlement areas near mosques of Saptakoshi Municipality of the district with suspicion of the spread of infection in the area as the COVID-19 patients detected in Udayapur were found to have visited these areas.

  110 Russians taken back to home 

As said by TIA general manager Devendra KC, the flight operated by the Russia-based Joint Stock Company-run Chartered Airlines landed at TIA this morning to take those Russian citizens stuck in Nepal due to lockdown back to home. The flight was possible on the initiation of the Russian Embassy in Kathmandu.

Mourners at the Pashupatinath area have complained of difficult situations they are facing because of the closure of 'Kiriyaputri Ghar', a facility for performing the death rituals, due to lockdown.    

18 Maldivians flown to Dhaka by Nepal Airlines 

Nepal Airlines has flown altogether 18 Maldivians stranded in Nepal to Bangladeshi capital Dhaka today.     The narrow body A320 airplane flew to Dhaka from the only international airport in the country- Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), according to the TIA Managing Director Devendra KC.  

Worldwide 28 Nepalis killed, more than thousand infected by COVID-19 

As of Saturday, the number of Non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) who died of Corona Virus has reached 28. According to the data collected by the Non-resident Nepalis Association, 17 died in the UK, eight in the US, two in the UAE and one in Ireland.

  Workers on holiday risk losing job

 Sagar Lamichhane of Kavre, working at a cow farm in Cheongdo of South Korea, has completed his holiday. He had returned to Nepal on a month-long leave but was stuck back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
