By Dhirendra Prasad Sah, Rajbiraj, April 20: A person has been tested positive for COVID-19 in 180 people that were screened through Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) in the area sealed in Sapatari district as per the travel history of those who tested positive on Friday for the deadly virus in Udayapur district.
The RDT was carried out at three settlement areas near mosques of Saptakoshi Municipality of the district with suspicion of the spread of infection in the area as the COVID-19 patients detected in Udayapur were found to have visited these areas.
Duniya Lal Yadav, Medical Chief of the municipality, informed that 75 of ward no. 1, 69 of ward no. 2 and 36 of ward no. 4 were screened through RDT in two days' period, from Saturday to Sunday.
A male aged 71 years of ward no. 1 has been found to be positive in the RDT.
The male, his spouse and son has been admitted to Gajendra Narayan Hospital in Rajbiraj and their swabs have been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for carrying out test in polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, according to Dr. Chuman Lal Das, medical superintendent of the hospital.
He said that PCR report of 22 swabs including the latest one was awaited.
