70 percent industries found flouting government decision to provide regular payment to workers

During a primary survey on the status of distribution of remuneration and operation of industries during lockdown by the Whole Trade Union Nepal (WHIN), only 30 percent industries were found giving the full payment of March-April to their workers. Govt doing homework to announce relief for farmers

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development is preparing the modality of relief package to the farmers affected by the lockdown enforced to prevent the spread of COVID-19. “We are collecting the suggestions and losses of agriculture sector from State and local governments to announce the relief package to mitigate the losses faced by the farmers due to the lockdown,” said Dr Hari Bahadur KC, spokesman at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

Fuel consumption down to 10 per cent

Following the enforcement of nationwide lockdown, the fuel consumption has decreased sharply to 10 per cent of the total demand of the normal time. The daily sales of petroleum products stood at 1,250 KL across the country at present which is around 10 per cent of the total sales of the normal period, Binitmani Upadhyay, Spokesperson of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) told The Rising Nepal.
