30.16 per cent capital expenditure spent as of now: FCGO

The government had allocated Rs 4.859 trillion budget for spending on development works for the fiscal year 2019/20 out of which Rs 1.23 trillion has been spent as of now.

Star hotels costing up to Rs. 8 thousand a day to be used as quarantine for overseas-returnees

The hotels proposed by the Association are 2 to 4 star hotels. A person will have to pay Rs. 3 to 8 thousand a day for staying in these hotels. However, one may have to pay less than that if she/he stays in the double bed room with a partner and the cost per person may be Rs. 2 to 5 thousand a day, according to secretary Sainju.

56% industries in operation but below 50% of their capacity

The industries manufacturing essential goods, which are allowed to run in the lockdown, are operating below 50 per cent of their capacity. According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, the industries at 10 different industrial estates producing essential goods are now in operation at around 46 per cent of their total capacities. As per a study conducted by the ministry in 10 industrial estates of the country from May 12 to June 2, only 56 per cent essential industries are in operation...

Tourism sector revival fund in new budget

Similarly, 50 billion rupees fund would be managed for reviving the COVID-19 hit tourism sector. While responding to the queries under his Ministry as part of the appropriation bill-2077 at the House of Representatives today, Minister Bhattarai shared that the tourist entrepreneurs could borrow loans and tax and interest could be exempted in such cases.

Economic activities should be forwarded along with coronavirus: FM Khatiwada

Minister Khatiwada said, “Share market could have been affected following weak market and production in some situation .But, it is only for short-term. We can win battle against corona virus. So, economic activities should be forwarded by fighting against coronavirus,” Minister Khatiwada said addressing the anniversary of Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) through audio visual medium on Sunday.

The Lower House lawmakers, taking part in the discussions over several headings in the Appropriation Bill-2077 today, sought the government's attention towards the sustainable development of economy to cope with COVID-19 crisis.    

   3 billion investment post-lockdown

Investment worth almost Rs. 3 billion has been received from home and abroad in various industries in the past one month of the lockdown period. Four domestic and 11 foreign industries in the country got investment worth Rs. 2.74 billion in the past one month, according to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.  

Apple trees bear fruits even in Lamjung

Apple trees have started yielding fruit in the hilly district of Lamjung. In the past, apple trees used to yield fruits only in the mountainous districts. Apple trees in Kybholasothar Gaunpalika-1, Baglungpani in the district, have started giving fruits, said ward chair Pema Gurung.

1.25 MW solar energy added to national grid  

The national transmission system has received 1.25 megawatt more solar energy from Wednesday. The power generated by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in Nuwakot was linked to the national grid, the NEA officials said.

Govt projects to add 1,300 MW power in national grid next year

The government has projected to add additional 1,300 MW power to the national grid in the next fiscal year. About 1,300 MW power is expected in the national grid next year by completing the construction work of Upper Tamakoshi, Rasuwagadhi, Upper Sanjen, Madhya Bhotekoshi and other projects being developed by the private sectors.
