Russia demands Mariupol lay down arms but Ukraine says no

As it continued its barrage of the besieged city of Mariupol, Russia demanded that Ukrainians put down their arms and raise white flags on Monday in exchange for safe passage out of town.

Embankment being constructed to save Rukum school

Every year during monsoon, the Simrutu River gets flooded and inundates the areas in Ward No. 2 of Triveni Rural Municipality, Rukum district. The flooded river also puts Triveni Secondary School at risk as it lies near the river. Flooded Simrutu River reaches the ground of the school during the monsoon, disrupting regular classes. The walls surrounding the school are in dilapidated conditions. Students are also at risk of drowning due to the swollen river in the rainy season.

Bicycles provided to 52 students in Gauriganj

Ward No. 3 of Gauriganj Rural Municipality, in Jhapa district, has provided bicycles to 52 students of public education institutions. “The bicycles were provided to students of grade 11 of Gauriganj Multiple Campus and Gauriganj Secondary School,” said Makhana Mahato, ward chairman. The bicycles were distributed to the bright students from low-income families.

Country should have self-reliant economy: PM

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that development of the country will be impossible without building a self-reliant economy. Addressing the sixth meeting of the Board of Trade in the capital on Sunday, the Prime Minister stressed production of domestic goods to minimise the growing imports and directed the ministry to follow policy and programmes that focus on creating the self-reliant economy. Thousands apply for temporary police personnel on the first day

Mainahiya-Sampatiya transmission line to complete by mid-July

Around 60 per cent construction work on Mainahiya-Sampatiya 132 kV double circuit transmission line connecting Nepal and Uttar Pradesh (UP) of India has been completed.
