No alternative to increasing electricity use to reduce trade deficit, says Bhusal

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has emphasised the use of domestically generated electricity by reducing the consumption of imported fuel to make the national economy self-reliant. Inaugurating the electric vehicle rally organised on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) on Saturday, Minister Bhusal said that there was no alternative to increasing the use of electricity to reduce the growing trade deficit.

NOC hikes price of all types of fuel

Nepal Oil Corporation, the state-owned monopoly petroleum supplier, has increased the price of the petroleum products effective from Friday midnight. The NOC has revised the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel and cooking gas citing that price of fuel has increased in the international market significantly. The NOC has increased the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene by Rs. 3 per litre each and price of aviation fuel for domestic flight has increased by Rs. 10 per litre.

With the dip in mercury, the locals of Tokpegola, the upper belt of Taplejung have migrated to the lower elevation to avoid cold. People of Tokpegola, Papung of Mikwakhola Rural Municipality-5 have started descending to low altitude areas with their herd of sheep and Himalayan goats and cows. The village wore a deserted look. 32 Nepalis rescued from Afghanistan arrive home

Additional 32 Nepali nationals who were evacuated from the Taliban-ruled Afghanistan safely returned to Kathmandu on Saturday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has confirmed the safe return of 32 Nepali nationals to Nepal from Afghanistan today. With this, the total number of Nepali nationals evacuated from Afghanistan has reached 940, the MoFA stated.
