NCP’s Standing Committee meet puts off till Monday   

The ongoing fifth Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has been postponed till coming Monday. Party publicity department deputy chief Surya Thapa confirmed the postponement of the meeting till July 6.    

11 international flights from TIA today 

A total of 11 international chartered flights are taking place from and to the Tribhuvan International Airport today. Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines are bringing in Nepalis stranded in different parts of the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic.   

Poudel new spokesperson of NA   

Brigadier General Santosh Ballav Poudel has been appointed the new spokesperson of the Nepal Army. Poudel is currently the Chief of the 15th battalion in the NA headquarters.    

Two killed, five injured in road accident

Two people died and five others were injured in a road accident at Akabre chowk in Chathedhunga, Aathrai rural municipality-5. The accident took place on Friday evening involving a tractor (Me. 1 Ta. 6219) carrying labourers working on the Mid-hill highway.    

17 houses buried in landslide 

Seventeen houses were buried in a landside that took place at Mallesi in ward no. 8 of Kedarsyun rural municipality on Friday.     Seven people have gone missing while 17 houses were washed away by the landslide triggered by heavy rainfall, said local resident Lokendra BK.    

   COVID-19: 38 new cases in State no. 1 

A total of 38 people were confirmed positive to Corona Virus in State no. 1 on Friday. Of them, 28 are from Jhapa and five each from Morang and Udayapur districts, according to the Ministry of Social Development.    

People in quarantine on the decline

The number of people staying in quarantine centres has been decreasing. As of last Thursday, the number of people quarantined in the eight districts of the State has gone down to 3,770. There are 455 quarantine centres in the State. 

  COVID-19: 80 per cent infected of Karnali recover  

The number of people recovering from Corona Virus in Karnali has surpassed the number of infected. On Friday alone, 51 infected including two women returned home after recovery.    

NTB imparts online tourism protocol training

Issuing a press statement on Friday, the Board shared that the training was conducted in coordination with the tourism related organisations to enforce the ‘Operational Guideline with Health Protocol for Tourism Sector’ that the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and NTB had prepared jointly.   

MCC on hold: Minister Khatiwada

Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said the ongoing budget session of the federal parliament was prorogued due to COVID-19. So the US was informed that the MCC compact aimed at development of energy and transport sectors could not be endorsed by the parliament at present. He however said government was for the implementation of MCC compact.
