ILO support to NRNA to help migrant workers   

The Non-resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) has forged a partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) to help the Nepali workers stranded in different parts of the globe due to the COVID-19 pandemic.   

Two arrested with 128 kg marijuana  

The District Police Office, Makwanpur has arrested two persons in possession of 128 kilogrammes of marijuana. A team from the Area Police Office in Pashupatinagar confiscated the narcotics concealed in an oil tanker (Na. 6 Kha. 6774) heading towards Birgunj from Hetauda.    

Public holiday on the occasion of Byas Jayanti 

The Byas municipality has announced a public holiday today on the occasion of Byas Jayanti or Guru Poornima. The decision was taken by the 32nd assembly of the municipality.   

Landslides damages a house, 10 more at risk  

Landslides have been reported in various parts of the district, since the onset of monsoon. On Saturday night, the house of Mangal Aiyer in ward no. 7 of Puchaurdi municipality was buried in a landslide.

  Locusts invasion causes huge damage in Arghakhanchi  

Locusts destroyed maize crops cultivated in over 10,000 hectares of land in the district. Farmers are worried much after the continuous invasion of locusts for six days. The loss is equivalent to Rs 500 million.    

Three killed, four buried in landslide in Bajhang  

There persons were killed and four others went missing in the landslide that buried a total of 17 houses at Kedarsyaung Rural Municipality-8 in the district last night.    

     Pokhara regional international airport makes 60 percent work progress  

The Pokhara Regional International Airport Project has completed sixty percent of construction works when one year is left for the deadline. The China-based CAMC Engineering Company owns the contract to implement the project falling into the national pride project and it has been given deadline to complete the project within July 10, 2021. The total project cost is Rs 22 billion.    

   Karnali State begins discussion on budget after 20 days of budget release 

The Karnali State Assembly is beginning discussion on the budget after 20 days of budget release today.     The discussion on budget had not begun after the ruling NCP lawmakers showed severe concern over why the large chunk of budget (51%) was concentrated under the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers. 

One killed in lightning in Bajura 

An 8-year-old child was killed in lightning at Bhaisikharka of Budhi Nanda Municipality in the district last night.     The deceased has been identified as Dipesh Bohora. According to a local Indra Bohora, the child was at home while lightning struck there.
