Distribution of e-passport begins in Sindhupalchowk 

The District Administration Office (DAO), Sindhupalchowk has started issuing e-passports. The service was launched on Sunday. According to Chief District Officer Bednidhi Khanal, Sita Laghu was the first recipient of electronic passports in the district.     

52 crocodiles released into rivers  

Fifty- two gharials that were brought up at the Crocodile Breeding Center at Kasara in the Chitwan National Park (CNP) have been recently released into various rivers across the country. Of them, 12 have been released into the Rapti River and 20 each into the Koshi River and the Narayani river, according to Saroj Mani Poudel, assistant conservation officer, the CNP. Additional 30 crocodiles will be released into the Rapti River soon, he said.    

Jha wins ‘ Gopalchandra Gotame Journalism Award’   

Saptari-based journalist Baijanath Jha has been honoured with the ‘Gopalchandra Gotame Journalism Award’. Birgunj metropolis mayor Vijay Kumar Sarawagi felicitated him with a gold medal weighing one tola (11.66 grams) and a certificate amidst a ceremony organised here today by the Gopalchandra Gautam Trust. The award is considered one of the prestigious journalism prizes in mofussil.    

Suketar airport resumes operation  

Suketar Airport has resumed its operation with improvement in weather. The airport has remained shut for the last two weeks due to heavy snowfall and unfavourable weather condition.  

Stakeholders call to implement apex court order to enable Nepalis abroad to vote 

The apex court order to make voting arrangement for the Nepalis abroad has witnessed dillydally in the implementation aspect.     The stakeholders have also noted that it was feasible to enforce the Supreme Court order.    

Well-equipped hospital to be constructed at Thankot  

A well-equipped hospital is to be constructed in Chandragiri Municipality-4, Thankot to provide specialized health services, including maternity and gynecological services. In this connection, the German Development Bank (KFW) has assured to provide financial and technical assistance worth amounting to Rs 1 billion to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Micro hydei project resumes operation after maintenance   

The Darkhola second micro hydropower project based in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-2, Lulang has come into operation after maintenance. The hydel project was closed after the flood occurred on July this year caused damages.
