‘Government achievements overlooked’

Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center)’s Dev Prasad Gurung reminded the House of the provision requiring the Prime Minister to win the vote of confidence from the parliament in the aftermath of Supreme Court’s verdict to reinstate it. He accused the government of rendering the parliament devoid of business.

Annual reports presented in HoR

Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, on the behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, presented annual report fiscal year 2019/20 of 'National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission' as well as the annual report of fiscal year 2019/20 of 'National Inclusion Commission'.

Country's GDP projected to increase by 2.7 per cent in next Fiscal Year

The outlook for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan has also been revised upward, supported by better than expected remittance inflows: Bangladesh’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to increase by 3.6 percent in 2021; Nepal’s GDP is projected to grow by 2.7 percent in the fiscal year 2021-22 and recover to 5.1 percent by 2023; Pakistan’s growth is expected to reach 1.3 percent in 2021, slightly above previous projections.

Iron mine exploration started in Baitadi

Exploration of iron mine found at Sigas rural municipality in Baitadi has begun. According to Sigas rural municipality chair Hari Singh Dhami, the mine has been detected at Sugarkhal of Sigas-1.    

Communication services disrupted for two weeks 

Communication services remain disrupted at Mudkechula rural municipality of Dolpa district for two weeks. The communication services were cut off as a telecommunication tower which was damaged due to lightning has not been repaired yet.    

Weather unlikely to improve immediately 

Meteorologist Samir Shrestha said the monsoon system should develop with either the occurrence of heavy rainfall or gusty wind for the haze to clear out. "There is no possibility of such a system developing in the coming two or three days," he said.  

Two women arrested, eight rescued   

Police have arrested two women from Damak municipality for involving women in prostitution by confining them in a house.
