PM sees need of putting in extra efforts for education, health and protection of children

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said additional efforts should be made regarding the education, health and protection of children to protect them from the negative effects of COVID-19. The PM said this while extending best wishes in the virtual programme organized by the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen and the National Child Rights Council today on the occasion of the 57th National Children's Day.  

Nepal-Bangladesh joint working group meeting proposed for joint-venture on power project

A joint-secretary-level meeting between Nepal and Bangladesh has proposed a joint venture in one project among two proposed large hydropower projects. Bangladesh has expressed willingness to import a total of 9,000 megawatts of electricity from Nepal by 2040. Bangladesh which is searching for a source of energy to cope up with the rising demand at home wants to cooperate with the government and private sectors in Nepal for investment in the hydropower sector here.    

Indian citizen killed in tiger attack  

An Indian citizen died in a tiger attack at Banke National Park. The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet.

World Cup Cricket League 2: Nepal inflicts five-wicket defeat on USA   

Nepal has defeated the United States of America (USA) by five wickets in a match held last night at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman. The match between the two countries was played under the ICC World Cup League 2.   

Preparation for national census   

As part of the preparation of the national census 2078, the district census office here organized training for supervisors in seven local levels. Office Chief Yagya Murti Bhandari informed that the supervisors would begin listing in the field from September 15 to October 4.

Halesi Temple open after COVID-19 cases subside   

The Halesi Temple closed for four months has been opened since Monday in the wake of decline in coronavirus infection. The meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (DCCMC) had decided to open the religious site, also known as Pashupatinath in the east, on Sunday.

The Ministry of Social Development in Karnali Province has shared a statistics that the province has 34 percent illiteracy rate, that is to say, 34 percent people do not have ability to read and write.
