Scores of tourists stranded in Mugu due to flight suspension

Many domestic tourists visiting Mugu district on the occasion of the Dashain festival have been stranded as flights from and to the district have been suspended due to rain since October 18.

Women carry body to the pyre

Breaking the social norm that a woman should not carry the dead body and perform cremation rituals, women here have carried the body of a deceased person to the Damaulighat, the confluence of the Setimadi river. Women affiliated to the Vedavyas Senior Citizens' Ashram at Chapaghat in Byas Municipality-5 took the mortal remains of Jagat Bahadur Adhikari, 86, to the Ghat for cremation.

Children are being administered vitamin A 

Vitamin A capsules will be administered to 24,000 children of Baitadi. A total of 23,894 children in the district would be given vitamin A capsules as per the national campaign on Vitamin A to be conducted on October 24 and 25, said information officer at the Health Office, Baitadi, Harish Prasad Bhat.  

Flood and inundation problem will be resolved in long-term manner: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that efforts would be made to resolve problems related to floods and inundation in a long-term manner.

Karnali government to provide Rs 200,000 compensation

The Karnali province government has decided to provide Rs 200,000 compensation to each family of the people, who lost their lives in recent natural disaster incidents.    

Permission granted to cut around 7,000 trees for widening of Muglin-Pokhara road   

Around 7,000 trees are to be cut during the widening of the Muglin-Pokhara road section along the Prithvi Highway.

PM assures of relief packages for survivors of floods, landslides 

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has announced the government will come up with a relief package for the survivors of landslides and floods.

Stranded climbers, guide rescued from Mera peak   

The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has rescued the stranded climbers and guide from Mera peak (6,470 metre) of Solukhumbu. They were stranded while returning after scaling the peak.
