KMC starts construction of overhead bridge amidst lockdown   

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started construction works of an overhead bridge amidst the lockdown imposed by the government to contain the spread of COVID-19. The KMC decided to go ahead with the construction as the lockdown has extended long. Public construction works have been stalled for the last two months due to the lockdown.

Extending lockdown not the only way out, say experts

Referring to the increasing threat of COVID-19, the government on Saturday decided to extend the nationwide lockdown, once again, up to June 14. Until May 31, Nepalis have spent 69 days in lockdown. While the government has been extending lockdown to prevent COVID-19 from spreading further, experts suggest the extension could not be an effective solution to the crisis on the whole.

Five-year park project remains incomplete even for 10 years

The five-year National Peace and Martyr’s Park project of Gokarneshwor Municipality has not completed even in about 10 years. Work on the project had not moved ahead satisfactorily right from the beginning and the project officials had several excuses to justify the delay like the time wasted to get approval of the Forest Ministry to remove 475 trees, Indian blockade of 2015, leadership change in the ministry and the ongoing lockdown.

Budget can't solve national problems: Former PM Bhattarai

Difficult to achieve budget target: opposition party leaders  

The opposition parties have not shown confidence over the government for achieving its budget targets.     In today’s meeting of House of Representatives convened to discuss on the newly launched budget for fiscal year 2020/21, major opposition party Nepali Congress parliamentarian Prakashman Singh blamed that the government had not paid attention towards minimizing the effect of COVID-19 while presenting the budget.

  13-year-old infected with dengue, cases reach 10 

The number of Dengue infection cases is on the rise in Myagdi, along with Corona Virus infection. On Saturday, a 13-year-old girl of Barangja in ward no. 3 of Mangala rural municipality was found infected with Dengue.
