17 persons including 9 females test COVID-19 positive in Kailali

As many as 17 persons including nine females were found with the virus infection in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done at Seti Provincial Hospital, Kailali.

  One-way traffic allowed along obstructed Naubise-Muglin road   

One-way traffic has been allowed from today along the Naubise-Muglin road that has been obstructed by a landslide triggered by rain. The road has been blocked at Tigrang Khani of Benighat Rorang rural municipality-10 in Dhading district by a landslide.   

Mother, son killed in landslide 

A woman and her son died when landslide buried them at Dilasaini rural municipality-4 in the district on Thursday night.     The deceased have been identified as Pashupati Bohara, 40, of Dilasaini rural municipality-4 and her 12-year-old son Rikesh, according to Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Kisan Chand.    

Nuwakot into lockdown from today  

In view of heightening risk of coronavirus infection, people's mobility and public service delivery have been heavily cut down in all local levels of Nuwakot.     A meeting of the Crisis Management Centre on Thursday decided to ban the operation of public vehicles in the district until another notice and also to completely stop entering other vehicles except those carrying most essential goods and the ones with pass into the district.

A prohibitory order has been clamped in Sunsari from early mornig in Sunsari. Chief District Officer, Phanindra Mani Pokharel said the prohibitory order has been issued with effect from 12 midnight Wednesday till the midnight of August 10.    

Prohibitory order issued in Rautahat to curb COVID-19 spread

The Rautahat District Administration Office has issued prohibitory order against COVID-19 from August 8 to 16 after the cases of community transmission of the virus were recorded.

Private sector yet to obtain permission for PCR tests  

Arrangement of PCR testing on private expenses has not yet materialized in Chitwan, whcih is popular as a medical city.     Chitwan-based Bharatpur Hospital and Chitwan Medical College have possessed PCR testing laboratories. However, PCR tests are only being carried out at COVID-19 laboratory run by the government-owned Bharatpur hospital. The laboratory does not provide facility for those who wish to have their tests on private money.    

Jhaputar-Chalise road obstructed 

The Jhaputar-Chalise road stretching from Rishing rural municiplaity-1, Jhaputar to its ward-6 in Tanahun has been obstructed for the past three weeks.     Landslides triggered by incessant rainfalls since 13 July have blocked the road. Rishing-4 ward chair Bhojraj Ranabhat informed the landslides rolled down boulders and debris in five different points blocking the road traffic.

18 women, four men fall prey to acid attacks in 7 years

Eighteen women and four men had become victims of acid attacks in the last seven years. In 20 acid attack incidents from the fiscal year 2014/15 to 2020/21, altogether 25 men and two women were detained on the acid attack charge, according to a data provided by the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal. Nepal Police had field murder charge sheets against two acid attackers, one in the fiscal year 2016/17 and another in 2018/19.

Universities should find optional way to conduct examinations: Experts

Issuing a notice on August 3, Tribhuvan University informed that its decision to conduct the annual examinations within a month was retracted until further notice. The notice came as the cases of COVID-19 started increasing across the country.

COVID-19 found in two persons who died while under treatment at Koshi Hospital

Of the dead, a male aged 45, a resident of Biratnagar Metropolis-9, was undergoing treatment at the hospital while the other, a female of Rangeli-8, breathed her last while being brought to the hospital.
