Govt bans poultry import from India in fear of bird flu

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has urged everyone to stay alert about bird flu. The ministry has urged the people, especially in the Terai region, to remain alert as bird flu has been confirmed in various parts of India. The ministry on Wednesday directed the major border checkpoints to stay on high alert.

Election Commission begins internal preparations

Election Commission (EC) Nepal has started internal preparatory works for the mid-term election in the country. Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that the Commission had begun its preparatory tasks internally. Agriculture Ministry urges high caution in view of bird flu detection in neighbouring India

Three more Nepalis die from COVID-19 in foreign land

Three more Nepalis have died from Covid-19 in the foreign land. One death from the infection has been reported in the United Kingdom this week and two in Portugal, according to the Non-Resident Nepali Association. As of Saturday evening, 53,385 Nepalis in various 50 countries contracted the deadly virus, said Sanjib Sapkota, coordinator of the health committee of the NRNA.

One killed, seven injured in bus-tractor accident in Nepalgunj

According to Subhash Khadka, Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP), spokesperson of the District Police Office, Banke, the bus (Na 5 Kha 5773) heading towards Kohalpur from Nepalgunj hit the tractor (Ta 5134) heading in the same direction, as a result, the bus went out of control thereby hitting a nearby auto-shop today at 12 PM.

Process to import fertiliser from Bangladesh reaches final stage

The government of Nepal is importing 50,000 metric tonnes of fertilisers from Bangladesh. The supply cost is USD 359.5 per metric ton, which is an around USD 18.5 cheaper per metric ton as compared to the existing supply rate

Corona isolation no more occupied in Chitwan

The corona isolation at Yogi Naraharinath Yog and Naturopathy in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1 in the district has become empty after no arrival of Covid-19 infected persons. The isolation became free of infected people because of the total 18 infected staying here, 15 have got over the infection and three went for home-isolation, said Dr Hemraj Koirala, executive director of the hospital.
