Bhakti Bilash Pokharel, Gaighat, Oct. 29: The police in Udaypur has arrested two persons of Gaithat on charge of sexual exploitation of a girl, swindling money and gold from her in the name of treatment of the ill and possessed people by posing as traditional healers.
Bhim Bahadur Dahal, Chief and Superintendent of Police (SP) at District Police Office, Udayapur, said that the resident of Triyuga Municipality-10, Chuda Mani Shrestha, aged 39, also known as Arjun posing as traditional healer, and the woman, Juna Rai, aged 45, of the same place, posing as Mata or goddess mother, were arrested.
The police arrested and started legal action against them after it was revealed that they had been sexually abusing sick women for the past 13 years by constructing a shrine inside the house of Juna Rai herself.
It has been disclosed by the victims that the ill women would be made naked while taking them temple built inside Juna Rai’s house for treatment where Arjun, posing as Shivaji also stayed naked and awaited women, abused the women sexually in the pretext of traditional healing, said SP Dahal.
Both the accused were arrested after two women from neighboring district, Khotang, lodged a complaint of being the victims of their heinous crime after which a case was registered against them on a charge of rape which is proceeding forward, said Bed Prasad Gautam, information officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) District Police Office, Udayapur.
According to Gautam, initially it was heard that the fraudulent were taking as much as one lakh rupees in cash and a gold ring from the victims but no complaint was lodged against them in this regard. So further investigation and questioning is underway by keeping the accused in police custody.
