Kathmandu, Dec. 26: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has been cracking down on motorcyclists who have been producing loud noises since the last one month.
Various branch offices of the traffic police division have taken action against 342 motorcycles for making loud noises during this period.
Chief of the Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Janak Bhattarai said that such motorcycles cause accidents and are responsible for noise pollution and irritation in the public sphere.
The Division has tightened the operation against such motorcycles in the valley for modifying the silencer pipes, removing the filters or making loud noises.
Legal action has been taken as it is against the law to drive vehicles emitting loud noise and modify the motor vehicles.
The branch has also urged citizens to reach out to the authorities at 103 to report any such instances.
