Rajbiraj, July 5: The foundation stone of Ram Raja Prasad Singh Institute of Health Sciences is scheduled to be laid on Tuesday.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is to lay the foundation stone of the Institute at Rajbiraj Municipality-10, Biraul in Saptari, Ranjit Kumar Jha, acting medical superintendent and director of the physical infrastructure preparation committee, said.
The date for laying the foundation stone was fixed after officials of the institute including CPN-UML leader Suman Raj Pyakurel, Prabhu Sah, Raj Prasad Singh, and Chairman of the Health Science Institute Development Committee Dr. Rohit Pokharel held a meeting with the Prime Minister at his official residence in Baluwatar, last Friday.
After laying the foundation stone, all the other necessary works including the detailed project report (DPR) of the institute are also targeted to be completed this year. It is estimated that Rs. 11 billion will be spent to build the structure of the institute.
Similarly, it is estimated that it will cost Rs. 150 million to prepare the DPR of the institute, said Jha.
The government has recently decided to lease 62 bighas of public land near Khando River for 30 years for the construction of the structure of the institute.
The file related to land acquisition had been pending at the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation for a long time.
The groundbreaking programme has been decided after the then Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Laxman Lal Karna decided to transfer the land a few days ago.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had announced four years ago that a health science academy would be established in Saptari in the name of senior republican leader Ram Raja Prasad Singh.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Oli while addressing the Provincial Assembly in Janakpurdham in August, 2018. Since then, the government has been allocating budget for the establishment almost every year, but the budget has been withdrawn due to lack of land registration.
