By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Apr. 25: All services at Sushil Koirala Prakhar Cancer Hospital in Khajura of Banke district have been halted following detection of COVID-19 in nine of the hospital staff including a consultant doctor.
Dr. Krishna Acharya, director of the hospital, said that the hospital was closed from Sunday to Friday in view of growing risk of infections of the novel coronavirus. He said the hospital was sealed as nine of the staff were found infected while conducting PCR tests of 10 employees including the doctor.
Of the infected, one is a consultant doctor, five are staff nurse, one is a lab technician and two are normal employees of the hospital. Six of the infected are in the isolation of the hospital while three are in home isolation and their health condition is normal, according Dr. Acharya.
Meanwhile, office of the Raptisonari Rural Municipality in the district has also been sealed off after 17 of the office staff were found infected with the SARS-CoV-2.
