By Yalu Joshi, Kathmandu, Feb. 11: Devotees in the fasting of Madhav Narayan at the Shalinadi took a holy bath at the Bagmati River early Thursday morning and visited the Pashupatinath Temple.
The devotees who started the month-long fasting from Sukla Purnima of Paush (full moon lunar day in January) had come to the Pashupatinath temple on Wednesday evening for the pilgrimage.
The fasting devotees took the sight of Pashupatinath Temple at 10 am. After bathing in the Bagmati, they worshipped in the temple and then offered holy water on to the Jaya Bageshwori temple.
Dr. Pradip Dhakal, Member Secretary of Pashupati Area Development Fund, said that devotees were taken to worship the temple because of the occurrence of a new moon day.
According to him, it is an old tradition to not allow cremation in the Aryaghat till the whole process of worshipping by the Madhav Narayan devotees gets complete.
However, cremation was allowed in the Bhasmeshwor area.
