By Navin Shishir BK, Baglung, Apr. 6: A school in Baglung Bazar has been shut down for ten days after eight students studying in the school were found infected with the SARS-CoV-2.
Infection of COVID-19 in the eight students was confirmed following the PCR test conducted at Tuberculosis Treatment Center in Pokhara.
Ram Prasad Khanal, chief of health section of the Baglung Municipality, informed that all the infected were girl students aged 18, 28, 17, 17, 19, 18, 19 and 23.
Of the infected, six are in isolation at the hostel while the two are in home isolation.
Khanal said that swab of the six students was collected for PCR test as they showed some symptoms after two students tested positive for the virus in the test which was done after they developed symptoms.
He said the school in which the students were studying has been closed for ten days.
With this, number of active cases of COVID-19 has increased to 26 in the district.
