By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Apr. 13: Bheri Hospital has been overcrowded with COVID-19 patients with the rise in the number of people infected with the virus.
Tej Oli, Corona focal person of Banke district, said that problem has emerged as the corona ward of the Bheri Hospital has 20 beds, 10 ICUs and 10 ventilators, while there are 40 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted in the hospital.
Oli said 59 COVID-19 patients were found in the district on Tuesday alone and the number of patients in the last three days has climbed to 140.
The focal person said the newly infected patients have symptoms and most of them need treatment in the ICU.
"We are worried about how to ensure treatment of the new patients as the ward of the Bheri hospital has already been fully occupied by the patients."
Meanwhile, District COVID-19 Management Center Banke has urged the Nepalgunj Medical College, Kohalpur, and Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital to resume COVID wards for the treatment of the rising number of patients.
