By Dhirendra Prasad Sah, Rajbiraj, Oct. 15: A woman staying in home isolation as she was infected with the novel coronavirus died of the infection on Thursday.
With this, deaths due to COVID-19 in the district has reached 22, with four women.
A 46-year-old woman of Barmajhiya Mahadevpatti in Kanchanrup Municipality-2 succumbed to the infection at 5:00 this morning, said Narayan Prasad Raut, senior malaria inspector at Health Office, Saptari.
Being seriously sick, the woman was undergoing treatment at Golden Hospital in Biratnagar and cancer, disorder in intestine, presence of fluid in lungs were detected in her CT scan taken at the time then she was referred to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) for further treatment.
In the PCR test done on Oct. 12 at the BPKIHS the woman was found positive for COVID-19 and as her condition had grown critical due to cancer, the hospital asked the family members to take her home as there was little chance for the woman to live longer, according to the family members.
The woman was brought home on Tuesday and kept in home isolation under the monitoring of health workers.
