Fair price shops opened, sale outlets set up at 43 places in 39 districts  

The government has operated the fair price shops from today in view of the upcoming Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals. The fair price shops will sell daily consumer items to the general public at subsidized rate.

NEPSE continue to follow bearish trend, index slips by 76.65 points

The benchmark of capital market index, NEPSE, has been declining for the last three consecutive days since Tuesday. The NEPSE index declined by 76.65 points (2.65 per cent) and closed at 2,812.38 points on Thursday, the last trading day of the week. The index had declined by 135.44 points in the last three transaction days. NEPSE declined by 18.5 points on Tuesday and 40.25 points on Wednesday. However, NEPSE had posted a growth of 71.43 points on Sunday and 0.27 points on Monday this week.

Employees’ protest hampers NAC services 

Employees at the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), the national flag carrier of the country, have been up in arms for more than two months heavily affecting its administrative work, said NAC's officials. The agitating employees have put forth a four-point demand.

WB agrees for additional financing to improve Nepal’s education, health sectors

The World Bank (WB) has agreed to provide additional financial assistance of US Dollar 50 million each to enhance education and health sectors in Nepal. The financing agreements aim to support the implementation of the government’s flagship School Sector Development Programme in the education sector and public management reforms in the health sector, the WB said in a press statement on Wednesday.

Farmers face fertiliser shortage again

There is an acute shortage of chemical fertilisers in the country as both public enterprises -- Agriculture Inputs Company Limited and Salt Trading Corporation (STC) -- have run out of stock. The stock of fertilisers in these public enterprises altogether amounts to less than 8,000 tonnes at present, the officials said.

Nepal-Bangladesh joint working group meeting proposed for joint-venture on power project
