Local elections must be held on time  

Lawyers have demanded that the government and the Election Commission hold local elections on time. Speaking at an interaction program on 'Constitutional and Legal System of Local Level Elections' organized by Press Chautari Nepal in the capital on Saturday, Senior Advocate Tikaram Bhattarai said that the people's representatives would not exist if local level elections were not held on the scheduled date.

Amid shortage of inputs, Sunsari farmers still pursue potato farming

Gulab Chand Meheta, a farmer from Dewangunj Rural Municipality, has been involved in organic potato cultivation for a year since when there has been a shortage of fertilizers in the market. “I have been using wastes from house and manures of livestock to make organic fertilizer for potato cultivation,” said Mehata. Booster shots to senior citizens start

The government has started to administer booster shot of COVID-19 to senior citizens above 60 years of age. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), those who have completed six months after receiving both doses of vaccines will be provided with booster dose. The MoHP has decided to provide the AstraZeneca vaccine as a second dose and booster due to shortages of the Vero Cell vaccine.

Ruling coalition agrees to hold local polls by mid-June

The second meeting of the five-party ruling coalition held on Saturday forged consensus to hold local level elections by mid-June, 2022. Top leaders of the ruling parties met twice on Saturday and the second meeting concluded to hold the local elections. The meeting held at Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba`s official residence in Baluwatar suggested the government to conclude the local elections by Mid-June, said government spokesman Gynendra Bahadur Karki after the meeting.

Karnali to provide allowance to150 shepherds

Jumla’s Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Office has stated providing allowance to shepherds. The office has also started accepting applications from shepherds. The allowance is expected to promote sheep husbandry in the region. According to the Livestock Service Office, a total of 265 shepherds have applied for the allowance.
