Protection of language govt's priority: PM

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government has given priority to the protection and enrichment of Nepali language, literature, culture and history. Addressing a programme organised to release the annual report for Fiscal Year 2020/21 of Nepal Academy on Sunday, Prime Minister Deuba said, "As language, culture and literature play an important role in developing the human race, everyone has an equal responsibility in protecting and promoting them."

COVID vaccines to children after Dashain: Shrestha

State Minister for Health and Population Umesh Shrestha has said that the government will vaccinate children aged below 18 years against COVID-19 immediately after the Dashain festival. Speaking at a programme organised to hand over health materials to Kanti Children's Hospital by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation on Sunday, State Minister Shrestha said that the delivery of 10 million doses of vaccines for the children aged below 18 has already been ensured. 

Monsoon to stay for few more days

The normal date for monsoon withdrawal from Nepal is October 2, but the monsoon is expected to continue for a few more days, according to meteorologists. Ganga Nagarkoti, a meteorologist at the Meteorological Forecasting Division, said no specific pattern had been noticed for immediate withdrawal of the monsoon. Currently, Nepal is affected by the low pressure area developed in and around Bihar, India, she said.

Herders make narrow escape from ambush of tigers
