Ghorahi locals berate air and sound pollution from cement factory

Troubled by the heavy dust and smoke coming from the factory and the sound in addition, the locals have launched an agitation by forming a Factory-affected Environment Protection and Concerned Committee. The committee is relentlessly calling for controlling pollution caused by the cement factory in their area for the last six years.    

Murder accused ward chair arrested

Police on Tuesday arrested ward chairperson of Rajbiraj municipality-15, Ram Prasad Yadav, on the charge of his involvement in attempt to murder.     Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Saptari, Tilak Bharati, said that Yadav, who had been absconding, was charged of murdering a person and he was presented at the District Court.    

Minister Bhatta inspects iron ore reserve  

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Lekhraj Bhatta-led team on Tuesday made onsite inspection of Dhauwadi iron ore reserve at Hupsekot-5 in Nawalparasi.     On the occasion, Minster Bhatta expressed his confidence that the iron mine would substantially contribute to the economic development of the country.

A resolution motion has been registered at the secretariat of Sudurpaschim State Assembly on Tuesday calling for return of India-encroached Nepali territory Kalapani.     The resolution motion proposed by State Assembly member from main opposition Nepali Congress Karna Bahadur Malla and seconded by assembly member duo, Bharat Bahadur Khadka and Tek Bahadur Raika, was registered at the secretariat, informed secretary at the state assembly secretariat Ram Singh Dhami.

The operation of Taplejung-based Olangchungola border checkpoint has been shut for definite time at the request of local administration of China.     People's mobility through the border checkpoint has been restricted due to possible outbreak of coronavirus infection.
