Govt efforts to contain COVID-19 effective: President Bhandari

In a meeting with a delegation led by DPM Ishwar Pokharel, also the coordinator of High-Level Coordination Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19, at her office on Friday, the President Bhandari received the latest updates and preparations the government made to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.

  One-way traffic allowed along obstructed Naubise-Muglin road   

One-way traffic has been allowed from today along the Naubise-Muglin road that has been obstructed by a landslide triggered by rain. The road has been blocked at Tigrang Khani of Benighat Rorang rural municipality-10 in Dhading district by a landslide.   

Elephant kills man in Jhapa   

A man was killed in an elephant attack here in the wee hours today. The Area Police Office, Damak has identified the deceased as Rohit Regmi,58, of Tukre of Kamal rural municipality-5, Jhapa.     According to inspector of police Bhawan Babu Khadka, a pair of elephants from nearby Ratuwamai Tree Plantation Project entered the settlement at around 2:00 am today to dismantle the hut where the Regmi family was residing in.   Price of gold soars by Rs 1,000 per tola

The price of gold continues to soar in the domestic market. Today too the yellow metal traded at over Rs 103,000 per tola. One tola is equivalent to 11.66 grammes.     According to Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of hallmark gold has been fixed at Rs 103,500 per tola which is Rs 1,000 more than of the Thursday’s price. It was traded at Rs 102,500 per tola on Thursday. Similarly, the price of Tejabi (worked) gold has reached Rs 10,3000 per tola.    

Mother, son killed in landslide 

A woman and her son died when landslide buried them at Dilasaini rural municipality-4 in the district on Thursday night.     The deceased have been identified as Pashupati Bohara, 40, of Dilasaini rural municipality-4 and her 12-year-old son Rikesh, according to Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Kisan Chand.    

Two children go missing in Daraudi 

Two children went missing in the Daraudi River in Gorkha. The missing are Sabin Shrestha, 16, of Palungtar municiplaity-1, Khurpajung and Prajjwal Shrestha, 15, informed Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office Gorkha, Basudev Khatiwada.    

Nuwakot into lockdown from today  

In view of heightening risk of coronavirus infection, people's mobility and public service delivery have been heavily cut down in all local levels of Nuwakot.     A meeting of the Crisis Management Centre on Thursday decided to ban the operation of public vehicles in the district until another notice and also to completely stop entering other vehicles except those carrying most essential goods and the ones with pass into the district.  

Nepal Academy to develop curriculum on folk bands 

Nepal Academy of Music and Drama is all set to develop a curriculum of traditional folk bands of Nepal.     In-charge of Academy's Department of Music Ashok Rai shared a plan to develop and produce a curriculum this year to help impart theoretical and practical knowledge to the young generation on traditional folk bands.
