Flooding in Jhapa causing havoc every year but authorities seem less concerned

Flood in Jhapa district has been a perennial problem. Last monsoon, 4,020 people of 689 households in the district were affected by flooding in the Kankai, Ratuwa, Mawa and Biring rivers.

Water supply project constructed with Nepali Army's assistance   

A water supply project has been constructed and brought into operation at Okhaldhunga settlement, Bajung of Modi rural municipality-5 in the district, with the support of the Nepali Army's Kebaljung Campany.    

Landslide and flood victims of Myagdi to get Rs 500,000 grant  

The government is providing Rs 500,000 grant to landslide and flood victims of Myagdi, who lost their homes due to the landslide and flood in this monsoon season, for the reconstruction of houses.     

Hepatitis 'B' reaches to an alarming level in Dolpa   

Seventy out of 343 patients examined in a health camp were diagnosed with hepatitis 'B' in Dolpobuddha rural municipality last year.

Children of flood-affected area of Dhorpatan municipality have been aided with educational materials and winter wears. The students of Suprang-based Janachetana school and Saraswoti primary school of Sukurdung were provided with the aid materials.

Mahakali river feared to have been blocked

Chief District Officer of Darchula Sharad Kumar Pokharel said the Indian administration is now removing mud and rocks from the landslide-occurred area. "Removal of landslide debris is taking place", he said, adding, "The situation is not very risky because of the prevalence of winter season".

Rain and snowfall forecast   

The weather will be cloudy throughout the country from Thursday to Saturday with chances of precipitation in many places, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
