Police regulation amendment incentivizes lower-rung personnel-Spokesperson 

Spokesperson of the Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishnu Kumar KC claimed that the recent amendment to the police regulation has encouraged and boosted up confidence of the lower-ranked police personnel.   

Bhaktapur administration issues 27-point order against coronavirus outbreak   

The Bhaktapur District Administration Office has issued a 27-point order, effective from today, for the prevention of coronavirus infection.     Bhaktapur Chief District Office Rudra Devi Sharma issued the order. Actions would be taken against the institutions and individuals breaching and not adhering the order as per the Infectious Disease Act, 2020.

A child ward with Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been set up at Beni Hospital based in Myagdi district headquarters.    

Manakamana temple entry to be barred from Friday due to coronavirus risk

Worshippers are to be barred to enter into the popular Manakamana Temple in Gorkha from coming Friday. A decision was made to prohibit the entrance into the temple considering the heightened risk of coronavirus infection following the outbreak of its new variant, Omicron.    

‘Proportional budget for village development’   

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel said the province government was planning to appropriate proportional budget for the development of village. 

‘Health Ministry not in favour of immediately enforcing lockdown’

In a meeting of the House of Representatives (HOR)’s Education and Health Committee held on Tuesday, Health Secretary Dr. Roshan Pokharel said the ministry was against the lockdown. He further said the ministry was sensitive in not putting the battling economy in trouble due to lockdown. “If any sector is deemed to be shut, we will take the necessary decision and resume the sectors after two-three weeks”.

Valley administration bans large gatherings and mass assembly

The religious places and shrines shall have their regular worship and prayers but all special worship programmes have been barred until 12 February to prevent and contain the rapidly spreading Omicron variant of COVID-19.

KMC amends its budget

The 10th Assembly of KMC made the amendment to the programmes equivalent to this amount. The metropolis had allocated total budget Rs 18 billion 957 million 712 thousand for the current fiscal year. This included programmes equivalent to Rs 16 billion 87 million 12 thousand were to be implemented from the KMC accumulated fund while programmes worth Rs 2 billion 870 million 700 thousand to be executed from external funds.

Previously used Isolation Wards and quarantines in KMC in ready-to-use position 

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has said that isolation wards and quarantines have been kept in ready-to-use condition following the increasing number of COVID-19 patients in recent periods.    

Over 100 doctors, health workers infected with COVID-19 in Chitwan

One hundred seventeen doctors and health workers of different hospitals in the Chitwan district have tested positive for coronavirus.  A number of doctors, health workers and hospital staff were infected with the virus within a few days following the surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the recent period.
