     Lockdown COVID-19 Online Video Poomsae Championships to take place from June 21

Kathmandu, June 12 : 'Lockdown COVID-19 Online Video Poomsae Championships' are set to take place from June 21. The International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championships (IOFTC) headquartered in Poland will organise the competition in two phases online when the global pandemic has affected world sports, said IOFTC's founder and competition's director Diwakar Maharjan.    
Under this tournament, the 'colour belt' competition will take place from June 21 to 27. Under this, in men's and women's categories, seven competitions will be organised each. Likewise, in the second phase, 'black belt' competition will take place from July 12 to 18.    
In this phase, in men's and women's groups, athletes will compete for 11 medals each. Daedo Taekwondo, USA Taekwondo, Everest Taekwondo Association, Universal United Nepalese Taekwondo will support the competition. Athletes from around 25 countries will participate in the match, said the organiser.    
The participants are required to provide audio visual activities of their performance more than two minutes online and a jury panel recognised by the World Taekwondo Federation will publish the results after evaluating their performance. A team comprising Ram Chandra Byanjankaar, Rajin Singh, Arjun Maharjan and Niroj Gautam has been formed to facilitate Nepali athletes participating in the match.    
The 13th edition of the International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championships that were scheduled to take place in the United States of America this year, was postponed due to global COVID-19 pandemic.
